PREPOSICIONES DE TIEMPO

La lengua inglesa es mucho más precisa que el español para indicar tiempo. Para decir “en”, el inglés usa hasta 3 preposiciones diferentes “in”, “on”, “at”.

·        IN Para hablar de años, estaciones, meses y partes del día (exceptuando “at night”)

e.g.    In 1992

in Winter

in September

in the afternoon…

·        ON   Para los días de la semana.

e.g.    On Mondays I go to the gym.

My favourite programme is on Friday.

              Para decir todo tipo de fechas y días concretos del calendario.

e.g.    The concert is on 16 October.

         My birthday is on New Year’s Day.

·        AT    Para decir las horas.

e.g.    I start work at 8 o’clock.

                   Para indicar un momento específico en el tiempo.

e.g.    At he beginning/ at the end… of his life.

         At the age of 18 years old…
